Abstract
Abstract
This paper aims to provide the theoretical support of the animated film “ My Father”, which was created in order to highlight the relationship between father and daughter through their memories, the moments of frustration and the final acceptance is - or should be - nonnegotiable. Through a retrospection of my father’s life and the events that inspired the creation of the animation, a psychological depiction of his character is attempted, regarding the traumas that marked him, the concept of trauma, personal and collective, and the concept of heritage as a life stance and the transmission of moral values from generation to generation. Finally, examples of artists mainly in the visual and audio-visual arts, but also of writers who transformed their traumas into art or “talked” about them with their work are mentioned, as well as works, films and books that deal with parenthood and especially the father-daughter relationship.
