Abstract
Nowadays, 3d animation has become one of the most important/ basic elements of contemporary art. Both their use and usability in different factors have increased since their appearance. Regarding art and entertainment, we are at a point in which the use of 3d animation has significantly increased and sometimes we cannot even distinguish if something is computer generated or is real.
In this dissertation, we will observe and analyze the process and production techniques of a 3d animation short film. This video is a personal project based on “Race Highlights” taken from the official Formula1 website. The basic characteristics of a race include twenty (20) single-seater cars separated in ten (10) teams. The goal of each driver is to complete the specific number of laps around the track in the shortest possible time and finish the race first.
In the animation I have created, we will watch extracts from the drivers’ efforts to win this specific race. My main objective was the production of both the objects and the background, as well as the single-seater car animation and video editing.
The main objective of the project was to create a realistic environment and an audio-visual representation of a Formula1 race based on the existing material. Meanwhile, I used my own personal style to enrich both the script and the direction parts. The several techniques I used as well as the methodology for the creation of the animated video will be analyzed thoroughly throughout the dissertation.
