Abstract
The scope of this thesis was the translation in Greek of Kenneth Waltz’s essay “Structural Realism after the Cold War” and the analysis of the translation challenges that had to be addressed. The methodology for the examination of the translation challenges is based on the analysis of the specific lingual and stylistic features included in texts of international politics, such as the original. So as a first step the thesis presents an analysis of the particular textual genre and the significance of the features it includes with references to theory. The presentation of the challenges encountered during the translation process is based on the assumptions of the preceding analysis. Tables with textual examples and references to translation strategies are being used in order to analyze the difficulties. Finally, the conclusions include an assessment of the translation in relation to the initial goal.
