This thesis is a translation from Greek into English and French of articles 52-59 of Law 4548/2018 on the Société Anonyme (S.A.), together with a detailed commentary on the translation process. It consists of the English translation, the French translation and a trilingual display of the original text and the two translations, as well as a commentary with examples of the difficulties and peculiarities of the translation process, a glossary of terms found in the text and the literature used in the research of strategies to address the challenges. It is an analysis of the legal discourse of the Greek, English and French languages, through the explanation in each language of a Greek law referring to the Greek reality.

La Dame du Café d’en Face, by award – winning Ivorian author Koffi Kwahulé, is a stage play addressing ever – relevant issues and focusing on human life, marital and family relationships, an excerpt of which was translated in Greek – for the first time – in order for it to earn a place in Greek literature and theatre. By combining different techniques and solutions for the best result possible, paying attention to the original text’s senses, that made it deep and special, and respect to all the individual – structural, linguistic, stylistic – elements composing it, its translation was achieved. In this attempt to transfer this work from the source to the target language coexist the original text, the translated text – one that was born from the original but at the same time is a worthy match for it –, a quick look at the most important information about the author and a text accompanying the translation and describing the process.

The following was written as a postgraduate thesis within the framework of the Master’s Programme ‘Science of Translation’ offered by the Department of Foreign Languages, Translation and Interpretation of the Ionian University. The thesis was submitted during the academic year 2021- 22 and the third semester of the aforementioned Master’s Program. The main focus of this thesis is the analysis of the kind of political discourse that we would define as populist, while, alongside this analysis, a reference is made to the translation of populist discourse and specifically to the challenges that it can pose to the subject performing the translation. The thesis revolves around the political discourse communicated by the political leaders of two parties of the so-called Popular Right or Extreme Right in France and Spain. The consequent translation of their words into Greek is also worth commenting, due to the very nature of populist discourse.

The purpose of this research paper is the study of the translation of violent scenes in four noir novels of the contemporary French noir/ néopolar genre. The paper consists of four chapters in an attempt to provide with information concerning scenes of raw violence, the vocabulary and the terminology included in them as well as their translation in combination with the translating procedure and any other peculiarities. Initially, in the first chapter, the terms concerning the noir genre are mentioned and how the noir genre/ roman noir is differentiated from the police genre/ policier. Then, there is a brief chronicle in order to present the development of the genre, ending up in the case of the “belles infidèles” in France as well as in the translation of the noir genre in Greece. In the second chapter, the term “néopolar” is analyzed and its linguistic peculiarities as well; in the third chapter, the issue of self-censorship is analyzed and how it is connected not only with the present research but also with the case of the belles-infidèles. Lastly, in the final chapter, there is a compare and contrast from the SL- French language to the TL-Greek language between excerpts that contain violent scenes. Bibliographical sources are also mentioned throughout the chapter in combination with comments and feedback.
